Split The Bill’s wishlist is a free shared wishlist and gift-registry tool. You create a list, add items by pasting a product link — we automatically pull in the name, price, and photo — and share a single link with friends and family. They claim the gifts they’ll buy, and claimed items show as taken to everyone else so nobody duplicates a present. Crucially, the app hides claims from you, the list owner, so the surprise is never spoiled. It’s the simple answer to “how do I tell people what I actually want for my birthday, wedding, or baby shower?”

How it works

  1. 1

    Create your wishlist

Give it a name — birthday, wedding, baby shower, or just “things I’d love.” Your wishlist gets its own private page you control.

  2. 2

    Add what you want

Paste a product link and we automatically pull in the name, price, and photo. Or type an item by hand and add a note about size, colour, or where to find it.

  3. 3

    Share one link

Send a single link by message, email, or group chat. Anyone can open it — no app to install and no account needed to view or claim a gift.

  4. 4

    Friends claim gifts

Each person marks the items they’ll buy. Once something is claimed it shows as taken to everyone else, so two people never buy the same present.

  5. 5

    The surprise stays secret

You can see your own list, but never who claimed what — the app is built so claims are hidden from you. Open your gifts on the day without spoilers.

Everything a good wishlist needs

  • Paste a link, we fill it in

Drop in a product URL and we read the page for the item name, price, and image, so your list looks complete without any typing.

  • Add anything by hand

No link? Type an item yourself and add notes — the exact model, the colour, the size, or a hint about where to buy it.

  • One link to share

Send the same link to everyone. Friends and family open it in a browser — nothing to download, no sign-up wall to get past.

  • Claiming avoids duplicates

When someone claims an item it’s marked as taken for other viewers, so you don’t end up with three of the same gift.

  • Surprises stay surprises

Claims are hidden from you, the list owner, by design. You see what’s on your list, never who picked which present.

  • Claim without an account

Gift-givers can claim an item by simply typing their name — perfect for relatives who don’t want to make yet another account.

  • Prices shown clearly

Each item can show its price as a helpful reference. It’s display-only — there’s no splitting, no debt, and no maths on your gifts.

What people make wishlists for

  • Birthdays

List the five things you actually want instead of fielding “what should I get you?” texts. Friends claim across the list, so you get a mix of gifts and no repeats.

  • Weddings and registries

A shared registry both partners add to, from a $30 pan to the big-ticket item guests can group together on. One link goes out with the invitations.

  • Baby showers

Everything from nappies to the pram, with notes on the exact model and colour. Guests claim what they’ll bring so you don’t end up with four baby monitors.

  • Christmas and holidays

The whole family shares lists in one place. Everyone sees what’s already taken, and nobody spoils the surprise because claims stay hidden from the person receiving.

  • Housewarmings and group gifts

Moving into a new place? List what you need and let friends split it up between them — one claims the toaster, another the good knives.

Why it beats a group chat

  • No more “what do you want?”

Send one link instead of answering the same question ten times. People see exactly what you’d love and pick from it.

  • No duplicate presents

Claiming marks each gift as taken for everyone else, so you never open two of the same thing and nobody wastes money.

  • The surprise is protected

You can’t see who claimed what — the app hides it from you on purpose — so opening your gifts on the day is still a surprise.

  • Easy for every guest

No app to install and no account needed to claim — even relatives who avoid sign-ups can type their name and reserve a gift.

  • Free and quick to set up

Make a list, paste a few links, and share it in about a minute. The free plan covers everyday wishlists and registries.

Wishlists: the old way vs. the app

Most people still handle wishlists over text messages and screenshots. Here’s what changes when one shareable list keeps track instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a shared wishlist?
Create a wishlist, give it a name, and add items by pasting a product link — we fill in the name, price, and photo automatically — or by typing them in. Then share the single link with anyone you like.
Is the wishlist app free?
Yes. Making a wishlist, adding items, and sharing the link are all covered by the free plan. No card is required to get started.
Can I see who claimed my gifts?
No — and that’s on purpose. Claims are hidden from you, the list owner, so the surprise is never spoiled. You see what’s on your list, but never who picked which present.
Do my friends need an account to claim a gift?
No. Anyone can open your link in a browser and claim an item just by typing their name. It’s ideal for relatives who don’t want to sign up for yet another app.
How does it stop two people buying the same present?
When someone claims an item it’s instantly marked as taken for every other viewer, so each gift can only be claimed once. If someone changes their mind, they can release it and it becomes available again.
Can I add something that isn’t online?
Yes. As well as pasting links you can add any item by hand and include a note — the size, colour, model, or where to find it — so people know exactly what you mean.
What can I use it for?
Birthdays, weddings, baby showers, Christmas, housewarmings, or just a running list of things you’d love. Anywhere you’d normally text people what to buy, one shared link does the job.
Does it show prices or split the cost?
Each item can show its price as a reference, but prices are display-only — there’s no cost-splitting, no debt, and no maths on your gifts. It’s a wishlist, not a bill.
